Stargazer
On display at the Centre For Creative Arts Wall Gallery September 2013 and traveled with the AFA TREX Traveling Art Program around Alberta the following year.
Stargazer is a collection of works created in the summer of 2013. It is composed of 12 works using pencil and acrylic on wood and 10 small pencil and embroidery on canvas pieces. I have been particularly drawn to the use of pencil on wood. I find the combination of the detailed graphite drawings and bright pops of flat colour on the neutral wood grain to be intriguing. It is a mixture of complexity and simplicity. A juxtaposition of the soft quiet monochrome shading to the loud bursts of colour and hard graphic lines. Each piece represents a different constellation.
